Aamir Zulfiqar Ali is named as Punjab’s new chief cop by the federal government.

Earlier in the day, the Punjab government appointed Ghulam Rasul Zahid as the next IGP.

The federal government late on Wednesday appointed senior police officer Aamir Zulfiqar Khan as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Punjab, replacing outgoing IGP Faisal Shahkar. This appointment came hours after the provincial government named Ghulam Rasool Zahid as the new provincial police chief to replace him.

Aamir Zulfiqar Khan’s appointment was also announced by the Establishment Division in Islamabad.

At the moment, Aamir holds the position of Anti-Narcotics Force’s deputy director (ANF).

He was formerly the IGP of the police force of the Islamabad Capital Territory.

Aamir is a native of Lahore and has worked as an SSP there.
