Late on Saturday, a vehicle transporting labourers detonated in the town of Shawal in the North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the tragic loss of 11 lives.
The explosion that occurred near Gul Mir Kot, according to local police, utterly destroyed the vehicle. In addition to the fatalities, two others were reported to be in critical condition with grievous injuries.
The explosion also left three individuals missing, they added.
Sher Ullah, DSP of the Shawal Police Station, stated that 16 labourers were aboard the ill-fated vehicle during the incident. The injured as well as the deceased were transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.
The victims of the explosion have been identified as Mubeet Ullah, Sahab Noor, Jannat Ullah, Asad Ullah Khan, Mir Wali Khan, Maqbool Khan, Sher Zahid, Syed Manoor, Mahaad Ayaz, Muhammad Wali, and Gul Hassan, according to hospital sources. Included among the injured are Umar Zahid and Umar Ayaz.
The deceased originated from South Waziristan, and their corpses have been returned there.
