- ECP to sit again on matter of Punjab, KP polls
- The meeting will resume at 11am today
- The CEC will chair the meeting to plan course of action
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will meet again today to talk about the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja at 11am.
The election commission members and the secretary, according to insider sources, will take part in the meeting.
The participants will receive a briefing on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the elections and other pertinent legal issues from the commission’s law wing.
The meeting will also discuss whether to consult the president and governor KP on the matter. Additionally, there will be consultation on letter writing to the Interior and Finance Ministries regarding elections in both provinces.
The issue of election security will also be raised in the letter to the interior ministry.
Relevantly, the Supreme Court of Pakistan yesterday ruled on the issue of the delay in the Punjab and KP elections and commanded that they be held within 90 days.
