Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claimed on Wednesday that his party’s members were being pressured into thinking that the former prime minister was doomed to a life in politics because he had crossed a “red line.”
The party chairman told PTI parliamentary party members in Punjab through video link that only fools could make such claims since only the people had the authority to define such boundaries.
“There are claims that Imran Khan and PTI have no future. Imran Khan has been given a red line. People are being intimidated into thinking that Imran no longer exists and that he has no hope for the future “Khan informed the party members.
“Such remarks are only made by the foolish. Both their understanding of politics and their knowledge of history are lacking. The decision to draw a line against someone must be made by the Pakistani people since they are the nation’s true heirs “added he.
Huge sums of money, he claimed, were being offered to “purchase” the allegiance of PTI lawmakers.
“There is pressure on our parliamentary representatives. From Muzaffargarh, I first met our tigers. They described how five MPAs were allegedly handed Rs1.25 billion in an effort to “purchase their conscience,” “added he.
According to him, a Gujrat-based PTI MP acknowledged that they had received the same information as other PTI parliamentary members and their allies.
He praised the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid while alleging that PTI supporters were given money in exchange for joining the PML-N or were threatened with terrible consequences if they didn’t.
He claimed that Pakistan’s corrupt administration was to blame for the country falling behind the rest of the globe.
He declared that the PTI was willing to sacrifice two legislatures and asked his party’s supporters to get ready for national elections in 2023.
In an effort to pressure the federal government into holding early elections, the Imran-led PTI, which is in power in the province, has moved to dissolve the provincial legislature. The PML-N, which is currently in power, has resisted this effort through Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman.
In the early hours of December 23, 2022, the governor de-notified PTI-backed Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi for refusing to accept a vote of confidence from the provincial legislature on his order on December 21.
After midnight, the Governor House sent out a notification stating that CM Elahi had immediately resigned and the province cabinet had been dissolved. But it also stated that Elahi will continue in office in accordance with Article 133 of the Constitution up until the provincial parliament elected a new chief minister.
The governor Balighur Rehman’s orders, the chief minister insisted, were illegal, and he would not request a vote of confidence from the Punjab Assembly as a result.
The case in this regard is currently being heard by a five-member full bench of the Lahore High Court, which is presided over by Justice Abidi Aziz Sheikh.
