Approximately 150,059 highly qualified Pakistani citizens have relocated overseas in the last ten years.
ISLAMABAD: According to data collected over the last 10 years, the most highly skilled Pakistanis departed their country in 2022 in search of employment.
According to data from the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment, the least amount of highly skilled people left Pakistan in 2020. They had been 5121. The most citizens, whether highly qualified, highly talented, or unskilled, left the country in 2015, according to the previous 10-year record. This year, more over 9.4 million people left Pakistan in search of employment, while the least number did so in 2020.
It is important to note that the Covid years of 2020–21 saw the lowest amount of Pakistanis leaving the country in search of employment as a result of travel restrictions around the world. Additionally, the data from 1971 to the present shows that the majority of people left Rawalpindi for foreign countries.
From this one district alone, more than 3.3 million people have travelled abroad since 1970, and since 1971, 6.46 million Pakistanis have gone to Saudi Arabia in quest of employment. 12,057 highly skilled individuals left Pakistan in 2013 in search of employment abroad. 14,647 highly skilled nationals left Pakistan in 2014 in search of employment.
There were 752,466 nationals who left in all that year. According to the data, 17,484 of the approximately 9.4 million persons who left Pakistan in 2015 in pursuit of employment were highly qualified. 839,353 persons left the country in 2016 in search of employment abroad. 16,510 of these were highly qualified.
Out of a total of 496,286 individuals, 16,029 highly qualified nationals departed Pakistan in 2017. Out of a total of 382,439, 16,105 highly skilled Pakistani people sought employment overseas in 2018. 625,876 Pakistanis departed the nation in 2019, 15,525 of whom were highly qualified. Out of a total of 225,213, 5121 highly qualified nationals left the country in 2020.
288,280 Pakistanis left the country in pursuit of employment in 2021, 7,396 of whom had advanced degrees. 832,339 Pakistanis left the nation in pursuit of employment in total in 2022. 17,976 of them were highly qualified. Out of a total of 395166 Pakistani nationals, 10,845 of them highly qualified, had left the country as of June 2023.
